This August, Big Telly is delighted to announce its youth theatre project Theatre on Wheels which follows the success of last summer’s Theatre Out There and the company’s ongoing weekly youth theatre.
Big Telly is the only regionally-based professional theatre company in Northern Ireland and the company is extremely proud of its close relationships with the local community.
Theatre on Wheels is a two week site-specific drama programme for young people aged 7 – 14 years culminating in a spectacular festival of small pieces of theatre performed in three unusual small spaces – a van, a car and Big Telly’s portable theatre (which is a perfect replica of a Victorian Theatre). Theatre on Wheels will run for two weeks in Portstewart from Monday 1st – Saturday 13th Aug 2011 in Portstewart culminating in a finale festival event on Saturday 13th August. Young people can choose to take part in the whole course or just one week; however children who only participate in the first week will not be able to perform in the finale event.
The project is divided into three age groups: - 7-8 year olds will meet daily between 9.30 – 11am(course fee per week £25); 9-10 year olds between 11.30am – 1pm (course fee per week £25); and 11-14 year olds between 2 – 5pm (course fee per week £40).
